Sheila Spangler Wins Nobel Peace Prize

I normally wake to the sound of gentle classical music in the morning. It is a great way to start the day. The classical sounds fit into that in-between state of wakefulness and sleep. This morning, however, I thought that my dreams had taken an odd turn.

I heard a news announcer say: "President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Price today". I laughed to myself and rolled over. Now where would I get such a crazy thought?

But no! When I awoke and checked the Washington Post feed I get everyday there it was in bold letters. What???!!!

Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize for TALKING about what he'd like to do???!!!!

Incredible!! Has the world gone nuts???!!! What are those Norwegians drinking?

How can he be in the same category as Teddy Roosevelt or Woodrow Wilson? They actually ACCOMPLISHED something before they were awarded the prize.

Were the other nominees so lacking that this is the best candidate they could find?

Well, all I can say is that I am going to start working on my own nomination package for next year. With the standards this low, anyone can win. So why not me?
